STAYING POSITIVE

For some people, life can seem hard. Between responsibilities, hardships, and disappointments, it can be a challenge to maintain a positive mindset. But, when we do, it can be a lot easier to enjoy the happy times, and persevere through the hard ones. Today we’ll be talking about staying positive and why it matters.

WHY STAY POSITIVE?

Some people may see positivity as an inability to view the world for what it is. But that’s simply untrue! Being positive allows you to be hopeful about things that might happen. It also gives you the power and strength to persevere when things get especially hard, because giving up isn’t the answer!

In addition to just having a happier life overall, being positive can also decrease the amount of stress and anxiety you feel. While it’s easier said than done, switching your brain to think good things instead of anxious ones, allows you to rest easier and not stress so much. Thinking positively is one of the best things you can do for your mental health, and even your physical health!

CHANGING YOUR MINDSET

Switching to a more positive mindset isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible either. Start small if you have to! One great exercise is for every negative thought you have, think three positive things, or list three things you’re grateful for. It’s not a bad idea to list everything you’re grateful for daily, either. This could be as complicated as sharing with your family at dinner time, or writing a few things in a journal each night. No matter how you do it, reversing your negative thoughts will greatly help you in the long run.

surround yourself with it

When you’re not surrounding yourself with positivity, it can be easy to sit in a state of negativity. Think about the people you spend the most time with. Do they generally have a positive outlook on life? Or are they some of the first people to complain about a situation? While you don’t have to drop them entirely, it’s important to make sure that you are distancing yourself from their mindset. It also might be beneficial to talk to them and work together to create a more positive and healthy way of thinking!

In addition to surrounding yourself with positive people, it’s also important to ensure that your environment promotes positivity. This can be done with proper organization, colors that make you feel good, and decor that makes you happy. Find some time to look around the space you spend most of your time in. What can you improve?
